River Poems for Mrs. Isom’s 6th Grade Social Studies Class By Andrew Phares

Roses are red, violets are blue. This might be what you normally think of when you hear the word poem. But not two of Mrs. Isom’s students! They thought outside the box and created awesome poems. Here is one of them by Ashley Creager:

The river is too still, so calm. It is so clear you can see everything underwater. You can see the fish and the rocks and the moss. The river is so quiet you can hear the wind singing. I can hear the children splashing and playing in the water. When you walk by you can see the fishermen pulling in fish. When you look at the water it feels as if it is pulling you in because of its beauty. Everything about this river makes you feel calm.

And here is one by me:

The twin rivers are a source of life,

They cut through the country just like a knife.

Water they bring to man and beast,

So a nomadic way of life can cease.

Gathering people together to live,

The gift of community the rivers give.

The Euphrates and Tigris will forever be

Part of Mesopotamia’s history.

Trap Shooting!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you want to join trap you need to ask Mrs. Isom for more information. You can find out more about it Saturday at ten at the Lake Maloney shooting range. Bring your gun and you will be able to shoot clay pigeons(blue rock) out of the air! Have fun shooting!

Spring Break is coming soon and it’s an entire week!!!!!!! This March from the 5th to the 13th we will have absolutely no school! During this time the teachers will have parent-teacher conferences. It will also be the end of the 3rd quarter. Hope everyone has an awesome Spring Break!

Spelling Bee

The Adams Middle School spelling bee was held in the Lecture center right after school at 3:15. The spelling bee took 2 hours. There were 35 sixth grader’s, 18 seventh graders, and 3 eighth graders involved in the spelling bee. Mrs.Meduna and Mrs.Brouillette were judges, Mrs.Derby was the pronouncer and Mrs.Elmshauser was one of the extras helping if needed. The runner-up for sixth grade was Chance Simpson, Seventh grade was Tianna Richardson, and eighth grade was Christian Vera. Sixth grade winner was Abby Kring and she won spelling the word celestial. Talitha Dailey was the seventh grade winner and Stirling McCook was the eighth grade winner.

Week 1 - It was hot chocolate.

Week 2- This week it has peanut butter, and chocolate and it is a really popular treat, snack krackle pop is the last hint.

Week 3- This treat you have to bake, it has a soft texture unless you burn it! They are delicious and Santa really likes them with sugar.

All of the treats will be revealed on later notice.

The teacher of the month is Mrs. Wiles for math 7 blue. She teaches because she loves it! She has taught for 37 years. She loves patterns the most in math. She has also taught music and history college classes.
